Sidera Networks snags Long Island Fiber Exchange
Sidera Networks announced this morning that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Long Island Fiber Exchange (LIFE), which is a facilities-based network service provider serving customers on Long Island, N.Y., and in Westchester County.
With the LIFE assets, Sidera Networks, formerly RCN Metro Optical Networks, added 900 miles of fiber and 550 lit buildings to its existing network.
The deal is slated to close by the end of the month, and financial terms weren't available.
"This exciting acquisition is a natural extension of our existing fiber network, strengthening Sidera's leadership position among fiber providers in the New York metropolitan area. We are thrilled to bring the full power of Sidera's superior network to carrier and enterprise customers on Long Island and in Westchester County," said Mike Sicoli, CEO of Sidera Networks.
Last month, Sidera Networks snapped up Cross Connections Solutions, which is a Philadelphia-based, carrier-neutral colocation provider.
With the addition of Cross Connect Solutions, Sidera expanded its existing colocation service offering and customer base in Philadelphia's Central Business District. Cross Connect Solutions added 28,000 square feet of colocation space to Sidera's more than 100,000 total square feet of colocation space.
