Changing of the guard at Cable Europe Labs
Cable Europe appointed industry veteran Peter Percosan as its managing director, overseeing Cable Europe Labs (CEL), effective today.
Percosan will have responsibility for the technology development and coordination throughout Cable Europe Labs and will coordinate with the managing director of Cable Europe, Caroline van Weede.
He succeeds Malcolm Taylor, who will remain as a senior advisor to CEL with a special focus on its certification activities.
Cable Europe President Manuel Kohnstamm said: "This is the right moment to get such a professional in cable technology on board. Peter brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, as the European cable industry is taking decisive steps forward with a whole new range of advanced products. He knows how to navigate the complex roadmaps and speed of innovation in our industry, and we will benefit from his strong transatlantic network."
Percosan already served Cable Europe Labs as advisor in 2009 and CTO for the past 15 months. Before that time, he served as executive director of broadband strategy for Texas Instrument's Digital Connected Home Business.
"I am excited at the opportunity to achieve scale in a meaningful way with the cable industry. One of my goals is to advance bridge building with transatlantic and international industry peers. I think that the possibility to increase scale merits more attention, and I intend to capitalize on this," said Percosan. "Europe is about the same size as North America, yet perceived as having only pockets of innovation. We're looking ahead to some very crucial years for our industry and are ready to see investments made to date come to fruition and push cable's competitive advantages further into the technology marketplace."
