Insight ups revenue in Q2
Insight Communications recorded revenue of $265.5 million in its second quarter ended June 30, an increase of 9 percent year-over-year.
At the end of the quarter, Insight counted 775,600 total customer relationships and 2.08 million revenue-generating units. RGUs increased by 88,100, or 4 percent, year-over-year but decreased by 3,300 sequentially.
Total average monthly revenue per basic customer was $123.25 in the second quarter, compared with $121.13 a quarter earlier and $112.29 a year earlier.
Basic subs dropped by 12,000 in Q2, leaving Insight with 710,800 basic customers as of June 30. Digital customers increased by 13,000, giving Insight a total of 540,900.
Insight saw a net gain of 1,300 high-speed Internet customers in its second quarter, for a grand total of 517,500. And voice connections dropped off by 5,700, leaving the operator with 310,000 telephony subs.
As of June 30, 99 percent of the company's customers were passed by two-way, 750 MHz or higher-capacity upgraded network, Insight said.
And Insight saw advertising revenue increase, from $8.5 million a year earlier and $8.7 million a quarter earlier to $10.4 million in the second quarter of 2010.
Insight, the ninth-largest cable operator, serves consumers in the three contiguous states of Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.
