YouTube celebrates 5th anniversary

YouTube has turned five, and to celebrate, the online viewing site has launched a site called “YouTube Five Year channel” that lets users describe how the site has changed their lives.

The site allows users to upload videos that could be featured on the channel’s video wall or map. The anniversary channel also features a timeline of noted events in YouTube’s history, as well as video playlists from users such as Conan O’Brian, Vince Cerf and Katie Couric.

In a blog posting [1], YouTube claimed to have more than 2 billion views a day, which it said was nearly double the primetime audience for three of the major U.S. networks combined.

Last month, comScore said that Google-owned YouTube had 13 billion video views [2] in the month of March after posting 1.95 billion in February.
