Charter tunes up EBIF support with itaas
Charter Communications is ramping up its EBIF platform with the help of itaas.
Today, Charter and itaas announced that the cable operator has signed an agreement for the TVWorks enhanced television (ETV) platform. The agreement includes the licensing, installation and support for TVWorks’ ETV platform, as well as the EBIF user agent, Pathway Communications Suite and OCAP Services Library.
“Licensing and supporting EBIF deployment to MSOs such as Charter is critical to increasing the footprint of EBIF-enabled set-tops and is an integral part of the itaas EBIF offering,” said Jaspal Bhasin, COO of itaas. “This is a natural extension of our iTV commitment that helps accelerate the pace of deployment and provide rich interactive to consumers faster.”
With the agreement, Charter can start looking at deploying interactive advertising and services across its digital set-top box base.
“The TVWorks EBIF platform is a key component for providing new interactive applications to our customers,” said Doug Ike, Charter’s vice president of advanced video and applications engineering.
Itaas took over the licensing of the user agent from Comcast subsidiary TVWorks last year.
Earlier this week, itaas and Comcast jointly announced [1] that the TVWorks user agent would be used in Comcast’s Cisco set-top boxes.
