Comcast promotes Avgiris to SVP, GM of communications, data services
Comcast announced today that Cathy Avgiris was recently promoted to senior vice president and general manager of communications and data services.
With the promotion, Avgiris is now responsible for all aspects of Comcast’s Xfinity Internet and Xfinity Voice services, as well as the company’s High-Speed 2go 4G/3G wireless data service.
“Cathy has done a tremendous job growing our voice business and launching our 4G wireless data service,” said David Juliano, executive vice president of Comcast Cable. “Under her leadership, Comcast became the third-largest residential phone services provider in the U.S. in less than four years, and I’m confident that Cathy’s management expertise will enable us to continue to innovate and grow these other businesses, especially in light of our recent Xfinity launch.”
A spokesman for Comcast said that Avgiris received the promotion and role change after the recent re-branding of Comcast’s product line [1] under the Xfinity moniker.
From 2000 to 2005, Avgiris served as senior vice president of finance for Comcast Cable and managed all financial and operations activities for the online and voice businesses.
Avgiris has received numerous accolades for her achievements in the cable industry, including a past recipient of the Women in Cable and Telecommunications (WICT) Liberty Award.
