SCTE seeks seminar proposals for Canadian Summit
The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers has sounded the call for paper proposals for seminars during the second edition of its SCTE Canadian Summit.
Specific to the Canadian cable telecommunications market, the focus of the SCTE Canadian Summit is to study the impact of integrating new technologies into existing cable infrastructures.
Technical paper proposals must be submitted to the SCTE by Oct. 9. The Summit’s sessions will address the following subjects, and submissions should specify one of these areas:
- Alternative energy solutions in the network
- Commercial/business services
- DOCSIS 3.0
- Evolution of the home
- FTTH/FTTB
- Headend and related facilities
- Making it work!
- Software solutions for cable operators

Bruce Marshall, technical director with Mountain Cablevision Ltd., is program chair for the 2010 event, which will again take place in Toronto. Marshall, who has been an SCTE member since 1991, is the president of the SCTE Ontario Chapter.
