Insight grows in 2008

In 2008, Insight Communications increased its number of basic subscribers by 5 percent over 2007, and its number of revenue-generating units (RGUs) by 16 percent, which helped to drive 2008 revenue up 16 percent over 2007 revenue, to $869 million.

The company tallied 759,700 customer relationships at the end of 2008, an increase over the year of 38,000. Total basic customers at year-end were 707,600. Total RGUs reached 1.88 million.

The company had a net gain of 72,500 broadband customers for a year-end total of 458,500, a net gain of 58,900 digital customers for a total of 439,500, and a net gain of 89,400 telephony customers for a total of 275,600.

Insight Communications is the ninth-largest cable operator in the United States, with operations in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.
