Belgacom ICS picks Sonus for build out
Belgacom International Carrier Services (ICS) has picked Sonus Networks to help it build its new IP-based network.
The new network will allow Belgacom, a wholesale voice carrier, to have greater capacity and efficiency through centralized routing, multi-media gateways and secure session control.
Sonus is deploying a network that will centrally manage policy and routing on Belgacom’s network regardless of traffic type. The same implementation will concurrently support Belgacom’s legacy TDM traffic and next generation IP traffic.
As its wholesale customers move to all IP environments, the Belgacom ICS investments in Sonus gateway hardware will transition to IP session border security and media transcoding.
The network is scheduled to be completed by the end of next year and was designed to support Belgacom’s customer growth across Europe, Africa and Asia over the next 10 years.
