Comcast consolidates Eastern unit; sheds 300 jobs
Comcast intends to reorganize its Eastern Division, consolidating from six divisions to four. The company expects the adjustment will lead to the elimination of 300 positions.
Comcast is merging its Philadelphia Metro and New Jersey regions into the “Freedom Region,” and it’s merging its Potomac Region with its Maryland, Delaware, Richmond region to produce the “Beltway Region.”
The company’s Central Pennsylvania and Three Rivers regions will remain as is. The Three Rivers Region includes western Pennsylvania and parts of Ohio and West Virginia.
Most of the jobs being eliminated are at the division and regional management levels, Comcast told the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The company said that it will try to find other jobs internally for those whose jobs will be eliminated.
