IBC: Move, Inuk join forces
AMSTERDAM – Move Networks and Inuk Networks said the former’s Web video publishing system now works with the latter’s PC-based set-top box software. Inuk provides triple-play services to more than a dozen colleges and universities in England.
Ordinarily, solutions aimed at college campuses tend to be of little commercial import, but in this case, they’ll provide an important test bed for Move Networks, which is backed by Comcast, Cisco, and recent investor Microsoft.
Inuk will integrate Move Networks' video publishing system, including Move Simulcode and Move Adaptive Stream, with its Igloo “virtual” STB.
The intended result is to give Inuk the ability to offer HD video, complete with an electronic TV guide using keyboard or IR/Bluetooth remote, on-screen overlays and picture-in-picture features.
The pair said the announcement “reaffirms Inuk's desire to expand into the U.S. IPTV market.”
