Comcast.net teams up with Thumbplay for downloads to phones
Comcast’s Web portal, Comcast.net, has teamed up with Thumbplay to add a mobile entertainment library to the site that lets users download music, video and games to their mobile phones.
In addition to the Thumbplay downloads, Comcast.net Mobile delivers information and entertainment, including on-the-go Comcast.net e-mail access, search function, up-to-date breaking news, local weather, and TV and movie listings.
Thumbplay has more than 100,000 pieces of licensed content – including music, ringtones, videos and games. Thumbplay’s locker service allows users to automatically back-up and store purchased items, and the community feature allows subscribers to share downloads among friends using Facebook. Comcast.net customers have the option of downloading Thumbplay content to their mobile phones a la carte or through paid subscription-based credits.
Comcast.net is operated by Comcast Interactive Media (CIM). Comcast.net is the main portal for Comcast’s 14.4 million high-speed Internet customers and garners more than 3.7 billion page views and 17.6 million unique visitors per month.
Financial terms of the partnership weren’t released.
