Yahoo management in turmoil

Brian Santo

Yahoo continues to lose notable members of its management as it struggles with a lagging position in its market, deflated stock, investor agitation, and an on-again, off-again Microsoft merger.

The latest defectors are reported by various sources to be Qu Li, the EVP in charge of search and advertising technology; and two SVPs, Brad Garlinghouse and Vish Makhijani.

Garlinghouse is the author of a 2006 memo, which was subsequently leaked to the press, that criticized Yahoo’s direction.

The rumored departures follow several that have been confirmed, including two EVPs, Jeff Weiner and Usama Fayyad; and the creators of the Flickr photo sharing service, Stewart Butterfield and Caterina Fake.

Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Yahoo is considering a reorganization that would centralize numerous product groups.
