Comcast adds five HD channels in Philly market
Comcast recently announced the addition of five new high-definition (HD) choices for its Philadelphia customers including the city of Philadelphia, surrounding suburbs and Northern Delaware.
Comcast added AMC HD, Animal Planet HD, CNN HD, History Channel HD and TLC HD to its HD tier in Philadelphia.
In January at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the company announced its plans to give consumers more than 1,000 HD choices in 2008 and its strategy to begin adding additional HD movies.
“Our customers requested the most popular movies, sports, nature and lifestyle programming in HD and we are delivering it,” said Amy Smith, senior vice president, Comcast Philadelphia Metro Region.
By the end of the year, Comcast will make available more than 1,000 HD movies and TV shows every month, as well as the most popular television networks in HD as they debut. HD content is the fastest-growing category in Comcast’s On Demand library.
