BigBand Networks debuts new video management system
Today, BigBand Networks bowed its new video management system (VMS) that it said is designed to simplify voice service deployment and operations, enhance video service quality and reduce network operating costs.
BigBand’s VMS is designed to simplify network management by automating configuration changes, including the addition of new network elements and services, for small- and large-scale networks.
“As video networks grow in complexity and scale, the need for video-specific network management has become more acute,” said Tara Howard, analyst of enabling technologies for the Yankee Group . “The myriad network elements required to support a large-scale video service deployment can be expensive and time consuming to manage. Solutions such as BigBand’s VMS can help significantly reduce operating costs, simplify the deployment and operation of video services, and enhance service quality as competition for end users continues to intensify.”
BigBand said that its VMS is being deployed with an unnamed service provider in North America and is available worldwide.
“VMS reduces the costs and complexities associated with managing digital video services,” said David Heard, COO of BigBand. “This new tool will allow operators to significantly improve the reliability and performance of their video services and enable more efficient network operations.”
