More than 62 percent of Cox customers bundling services
Cox Communications issued a press release yesterday highlighting the company’s fourth-quarter accomplishments, including the fact that more than 62 percent of its customers were bundling two or more services and more than 30 percent are taking advantage of the full triple-play bundle.
Cox also said that it anticipates surpassing four million bundled customers this year. The recently completed fourth-quarter also marked the seventh-consecutive year that Cox added more than one million subscriptions, or revenue generating units (RGUs).
While not providing the full details on its fourth-quarter and 2007 results, Cox had a total of 6 million residential customer relationships, which was a 1.6 percent year-over-year increase. The Atlanta-based company had a total of 3.7 million bundled customers for 9 percent growth.
Cox’s telephone subscribers increased 17.7 percent, to 2.38 million subscribers, while broadband customers grew by 11.3 percent, to 3.7 million. The company’s digital video customers grew 10.8 percent, to 3.1 million.
“Despite fierce competition from phone and satellite companies, we saw less than 0.4 percent reduction in basic video subscriptions, and digital penetration continues to grow (now 58 percent of basic) as customers are increasingly upgrading to enjoy high-definition, on-demand and DVR services,” said Cox President Pat Esser. “Altogether, 2007 was another outstanding year in which we demonstrated that our early lead in bundling and commitment to quality customer care place us in a powerful competitive position.”
