Clearwire’s customers getting Google apps

Traci Patterson

Clearwire Corp. [1] is teaming up with Google [2] to deliver the Internet giant’s Google Apps communication suite to its customers.

Clearwire will begin migrating its current customers to Gmail and Google Calendar in the first half of this year, the company said, and Clearwire customers will also have access to Google Talk.

And the service provider will use AdSense for Search to provide Google search capabilities on future Clearwire portal applications.

Clearwire is building and operating a wireless broadband network based on WiMAX technology.

Last year, the provider inked a tentative deal with Sprint Nextel [3] to build a joint nationwide WiMAX network, but Sprint recently pulled out of the deal.
