* Harmonic adds Silicon Valley exec to board
Harmonic Inc.  has appointed Harold Covert, EVP and CFO at Openwave Systems , to the company’s board of directors, and Harmonic has also named him chairman of its audit committee.
* SureWest creates business bundle
SureWest Communications  has created a service and equipment bundle for small businesses in the Sacramento area that combines the TalkSwitch  480vs telephone system with SureWest services.
Services include unlimited nationwide calling, business-class high-speed Internet, e-mail accounts and business domain name registration.
* Brix adds to IPTV portfolio
Brix Networks’  BrixVision IPTV portfolio has a new addition: BrixVision Live Monitoring, which provides in-network service quality visibility by monitoring and analyzing live video streams at critical service demarcation points within the delivery network.
* Verizon’s network expands
Verizon Wireless  has extended its EV-DO Rev. A technology in the greater SouthBend, Ind. area, covering about 1,400 square miles. Verizon rolled out its EV-DO network in the South Bend area in December.
Verizon has also expanded its FiOS TV service in Spring Valley, N.Y., and Bedford, Mass.
