Cox rides Openwave to slam spam

Jeff Baumgartner

Openwave Systems said Cox Communications has agreed to add the vendor's anti-virus platform to the operator's e-mail platform. Cox already uses Openwave's "Mx" e-mail system.

Openwave's anti-virus platform incorporates the Network Associates McAfee Virus Scanning engine, which filters unwanted e-mail from passing through server connections. Openwave's system also provides protection at the network edge and at the end-user level.

"Large-scale networks like Cox's need a solution like Email Mx that ensures the network is always running at peak performance so end users can count on receiving virus-free, healthy email," said Openwave General Manager of Messaging Applications Rich Wong, in a release.
