ARRIS puts out 'hitless' CMTS software

ARRIS

has released a new version of cable modem termination system (CMTS) software (release 3.3) that enables the installation of maintenance software updates without impacting service.

ARRIS's so-called "hitless" software target's the vendor's flagship Cadant C4 CMTS. The new software boosts network availability by eliminating planned network downtime caused the installation of maintenance software loads, the company said.

The new software also is designed to increase cable modem and multimedia terminal adapter scalability, provide additional denial-of-service counter-measures and a number of Layer 3 router extensions.
