NDS fires back at EchoStar

NDS Group responded to a complaint filed by EchoStar Communications and NagraStar, calling it "baseless and nothing more than an attempt by a competitor to harm NDS."

The complaint centers around allegations from EchoStar that NDS had contributed to the hacking of the EchoStar conditional access systems.

The complaint "is basically a repetition of another groundless lawsuit, which was filed over a year ago and has since been dismissed," said NDS President and CEO Dr. Abe Peled, in a statement.

Last week, EchoStar asked the Federal Communications Commission to block News Corp. 's attempt to acquire DirecTV Inc. News Corp. is also the majority owner of NDS.
