Shaw adds VOD, HDTV in Saskatoon

Shaw Communications has expanded its advanced services menu in Saskatoon with a dual offering of video-on-demand and high-definition television.

The VOD launch is the MSO's third. Shaw also offers VOD in Calgary and Vancouver. The MSO is using nCUBE Corp. 's video servers in all three markets.

Customers access the MSO's online ordering system via a special Web site. In additional to placing orders, visitors can browse movie trailers and previews.

On the HD front, Shaw is offering several Seattle-based broadcasting affiliates, including ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC. Customers must access the service with Motorola Broadband 's DCT-5100 HD box, which retails for $698.98, Shaw said.
