Oceanic, Navic make interactive waves
Time Warner Cable's Oceanic division–already considered a pioneering cable system after its early ground-breaking commercial rollout of video-on-demand–has become the MSO's first to leverage Navic Networks' Set-top Data Services (SDS) platform.
Oceanic, conjuring up visions of the analog Qube systems of yesteryear, has launched Navic's Audience Polling application, which allows the operator to ask questions during regular TV shows, advertisements and specialty programs such as political debates. The operator has also debuted Navic's addressable advertising tool, which enables advertisers to create tailored promotions.
The combination "gives advertisers access to a compelling portfolio of new media opportunities like targeting, interactivity, and long-form advertising, from the launch point of an existing local cable spot," said MaryAnn Sacharski, director of advertising sales for Oceanic Time Warner Cable.
