Texas Instruments Inc. released a cable modem reference design it says will help OEMs develop cable data modems for CableLabs certification. The TNETC405 has complete DOCSIS 1.1-ready hardware and software, flexible residential distribution peripherals and a communications processor, TI says.
The company adds that the systems' DOCSIS software API architecture and modular hardware design allow customers to customize their products with various features.
The TNETC405 is built on TI's data cable-modem systems and includes DOCSIS 1.1, the TNETC4305 communications processor, the TNETC4042A integrated DOCSIS physical layer and a media access controller. The reference design is available, and the 4305, 4042A and DOCSIS 1.1 software bundle is sampling now and expected to be in production in the third quarter.
