New turn-key cable TV modem testing

National Technical Systems and Agilent have blended their technologies to provide third-party cable television modem pre-certification and other related testing services. The venture will enable NTS to add Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) pre-certification to its testing portfolio.

The testing package will be available by May 1, 2001 at NTS' Culver City, Calif. facility.

Gartner Dataquest, a business technology research provider, reports that nearly 2 million cable modem units were shipped in the second quarter of 2000. With increasing bandwidth demands, a cable modem offers a cost-effective solution to high-speed connectivity. Gartner Dataquest also reports that growth in this industry topped 35 percent in the second quarter of 2000.
