Cisco’s Lloyd, Liberty Global Fries to speak at Cable-Tec Expo
Cisco’s Rob Lloyd and Liberty Global’s Mike Fries have been added to the list of featured speakers for the Denver edition of SCTE Cable-Tec Expo Sept. 22-25.
Lloyd, president, development and sales for Cisco, will be on center stage on Sept. 23 at Expo while Liberty Global president and CEO Fries will follow on Sept. 24.
Lloyd will discuss the evolution of the consumer experience and the role of the cloud in the emerging model during his keynote address. Fries will sit down with Comcast Cable executive vice president and chief technical officer Tony Werner, who is also chair of the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2014 Program Committee, for a keynote conversation.
“Rob Lloyd’s keynote remarks and Tony Werner’s conversation with Mike Fries will offer this year’s Cable-Tec Expo attendees truly advanced and global perspectives from three of the most influential executives who are shaping the future of cable,” said Daniel Howard, senior vice president and CTO of SCTE. “These executives will provide the industry at large with valuable insights into how cable operators and vendors are working together in new ways to address the increasing competition and customer demand for new services, applications, platforms, architectures and speed in broadband networks – all of which will drive cable’s growth in the years to come.”
Lloyd is responsible for Cisco’s development and sales efforts. Lloyd’s organization manages the alignment and acceleration of Cisco’s technology innovation to enable a faster response to market transitions, increased customer relevance, and growth. With 19 years of experience at Cisco, Lloyd has managed the majority of the company’s worldwide businesses. He is also a member of the Cisco Executive Committee, which sets strategic direction for each of Cisco’s market segments.
Fries has helped build Denver-based Liberty Global into the largest international cable company in the world, providing 25 million customers with 49 million video, voice and Internet services. Fries is a founding member of the management team that launched the company's international expansion more than two decades ago, and he has served in various strategic and operating capacities since that time. He is a member of Liberty Global's board of directors and its two-person executive committee along with the company's chairman, John Malone.
