PeerApp’s chairman of the board, Gadi Tamari, has been named CEO, succeeding Robert Mayer.

The company did not give a reason for the departure of Mayer, who as PeerApp’s founder ran the company for 9 years. Tamari said, “I want to thank Robert Mayer for his many significant contributions to the company during his tenure as founder and CEO.”

Tamari has served as PeerApp’s Chairman of the Board for the last four years. He had been CEO and board director of Radvision. Tamari also served as a vice president at Lucent Technologies, where he was responsible for global sales of the next generation Softswitch. Before that, Tamari was the COO of Excel Switching prior to the company’s acquisition by Lucent.

Today, Internet video consumption is exploding, driven by services like YouTube, Netflix and HBO, across all types of broadband networks, including both fixed and mobile. At the same time, consumers are looking for better Quality of Experience (QoE). To respond, operators are rolling out next-generation broadband architectures based on Network Functions Virtualization and Software-Defined Networking (NFV/SDN) and are looking to embed content delivery capabilities into their last-mile networks. PeerApp is now delivering the next-generation content delivery solution to both a multitude of small service providers as well as to Global Tier 1 Communications Service Providers (CSPs).
