BHN pushes ‘play’ on Epix nets
Following up on a carriage agreement with corporate cousin Time Warner Cable earlier this year, Bright House Networks is now serving up four channels of Epix to its digital subscribers.
The service, which started on Sunday, includes linear and on demand programming from Epix, Epix 2, Epix 3 and Epix Drive-in with online access coming soon. Like Time Warner Cable’s deal in March, Bright House Networks is giving its subscribers a free, three-month trial of Epix, including its multiplex services.

Bright House Networks subscribers now have access to movies such as “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” “Star Trek Into Darkness” and “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.” The content will soon be available across a range of devices, including Xbox, PS3, PS4, iPad, Android, via Epix’s web portal and app.
Epix is available in HD, SD and on Bright House Network’s VOD platform.
Bright House Networks is typically included on carriage agreements negotiated by Time Warner Cable, but that could change if Comcast’s deal to purchase Time Warner Cable goes through. Late last year, Viacom signed a carriage agreement with Time Warner Cable and the Epix announcement with Bright House Networks was a follow up to that agreement.
Cox Communications trialed its TV Everywhere service with Epix four years ago. Epix also has deals in place with Charter Communications, Dish Network, Mediacom Communications, NCTC, Suddenlink Communications and Verizon. Epix currently doesn’t have distribution agreements in place with Comcast, AT&T and DirecTV, among others.
Epix is jointly-owned by Viacom’s Paramount, MGM and Lionsgate. Through its agreements with cable, satellite and telco providers, Epix is available to over 45 million homes nationwide.
