Charter Communications’ “Charter Spectrum” brand has made its debut in North Texas with increased data speeds and more than 200 HD channels.

The simultaneous launches in the Forth Worth area and in Greenville, S.C. marked the first time that Charter used the new brand.

Charter said in November that it would be re-branding its triple play services under the Charter Spectrum moniker and the launch in the Forth Worth area came on the heels of the cable operator’s analog-to-digital conversion project that was completed there last year.

“Charter’s standard Internet speeds are now 20 times faster than standard DSL, and our video lineup now offers the most HD in the area,” said Charter’s Jonathan Hargis, executive vice president and chief marketing Officer.  “These improvements are made possible by our recent upgrade to an all-digital network. When you combine our reliable, full-featured voice service with substantially improved video and Internet products, our North Texas customers now have access to our highest level of service – Charter Spectrum.”

With the reclaimed bandwidth, last year Charter was able to offer its subscribers in Fort Worth and 40 surrounding communities 141 HD channels – which more than doubled their previous HD lineup – as part of the largest HD launch in the company’s history.

In addition to more than 200 HD channels now being offered across the same area, Charter Spectrum TV provides access to more than 12,000 on demand choices, including 2,500 HD offerings and 3D movies.

Customers can als tap into the Charter App, which was announced yesterday, to watch more than 100 live channels on their mobile devices anywhere in their home. Charter customers can also take more than 40 networks on-the-go with their computers and mobile devices.

Charter Spectrum Internet plans start at 60 Mbps with modems provided free of charge.

On the voice side, Charter Spectrum Voice provides unlimited local and long distance calling in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands along with free 411 calls.
