AT&T’s Digital Life to sound the alarm in 7 new markets
Starting today, AT&T’s home automation and security service, which is called “Digital Life,” is available in seven new markets.
The latest launches coincided with the first roll out of Digital Life a year ago after some initial hiccups. The service is now available in 75 markets across the nation with the latest additions in Corpus Christi, Texas, Fayetteville, Ark., Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Youngstown, Ohio, Charleston, S.C., Topeka, Kan. and Stockton, Calif.
To celebrate its first birthday, AT&T announced several new promotional offers to new and existing users including:
• New customers who sign up for the Digital Life Smart Security package starting today won’t be charged upfront fees, as standard equipment and installation ($249.99) will be received at no cost.
• Existing Smart Security users can get 50 percent off of standard equipment costs when they add various automation packages, such as door, energy and water detection packages.
“Adding more ways to control your home through your security system should be simple,” said Kevin Petersen, president, AT&T Digital Life. “We built our service around the customer, with ease-of-use as paramount as security and the customer response we’re getting is outstanding.”
Digital Life is an all-digital, fully integrated, wireless home management system. The Digital Life application is available on most web browsers and apps are available for iOS, Android smartphones, and Windows and Blackberry phones. The AT&T Digital Life application gives customers control over cameras, door locks, lights, thermostats, and small appliances by setting alerts or programs to manage a home remotely.
Home automation and security services could represent a significant new revenue stream for service providers, but the field is crowded. Other companies offering similar services include incumbent ADT, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, Bright House Networks and Suddenlink Communications, to name a few.
