Starting tomorrow, AT&T will have its home automation and security platform, which is called Digital Life, live in five more markets.

The new markets will include Greensboro, N.C., Bakersfield, Calif., Columbia, S.C., Fresno, Calif., and Knoxville, Tenn. Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks and Comcast are also in some of those markets, and have home automation and security services of their own.

With the latest additions, AT&T will have Digital Life available in 68 markets across the nation. After some initial delays, AT&T launched Digital Life about a year ago in 15 markets.

Digital Life is an all-digital, fully integrated, wireless home management system. The Digital Life application is available on most web browsers and apps are available for iOS, Android smartphones, and Windows and Blackberry phones. The AT&T Digital Life application gives customers control over cameras, door locks, lights, thermostats, and small appliances by setting alerts or programs to manage a home remotely.

Other cities in the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina that will be able to order the service tomorrow include High Point, Burlington, Winston-Salem, Lexington, Asheboro and Salisbury.

"With Digital Life, AT&T is committed to offering our customers an easy and convenient way to secure their homes, protect their families and simplify their lives from virtually anywhere," said Cristy Swink, AT&T's vice president and general manager of the Mid-Atlantic market. "With the launch of these new markets, we're looking forward to making Digital Life available to more customers throughout the country."

For a limited time, customers who sign up for AT&T Digital Life will receive an instant $100 savings on Digital Life equipment and installation at the time of purchase.

Digital Life comes with two price points. Simple Security, which includes home monitoring, a wireless keypad, a keychain remote, a three-pack of recessed contact sensors and an indoor siren, cost $29.99 a month plus a $149.99 installation and equipment fee.

Smart Security costs $39.99 a month and $249.99 for the installation and equipment. Smart Security includes a motion sensor, a smoke sensor and a five-pack of contact sensors. Customers can also pick more features, such as an Energy Package or Door Package, with additional monthly charges.
