Bright House Networks, Time Warner Cable tap into Univision’s TVE app
Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks are now offering their authenticated digital customers access to Univision’s TV Everywhere video content.
Univision’s UVideos bilingual digital video network is now available on iOS and Android devices at no additional cost for the cable operators’ subscribers. The content can be viewed via the UVideos mobile app, or from the Uvideos.com web portal.
"Univision has a unique, sophisticated platform that integrates their terrific authenticated programming with an engaging social component,” said Mike Angus, senior vice president and general manager, video for Time Warner Cable. "We know that this programming is very popular with our customers, and we’ve been working hard with Univision to bring this to fruition.”
UVideos.com and the UVideos mobile app have several unique elements including a time-syncing feature where viewers are able to see all the social and on-site comments played back to them as they occurred during original broadcast after watching a show’s linear airing.
The app also features search and recommendation functionality so users can find the most relevant content for them, whether it be similar telenovelas, sports, news or entertainment programming.
“We are pleased to offer Time Warner Cable and Bright House customers the ability to enjoy the best Univision content whenever and wherever they want to watch it,” said Scott Levine, senior vice president, product, Univision Communications Inc. “Our innovative partnership demonstrates Time Warner Cable’s commitment to giving their Hispanic customers new and more convenient ways to access the content they love.”
Through a partnership, Time Warner Cable manages programming deals for Bright House Networks. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that Bright House Networks had hired UBS Securities to advise the company on programming issues in the event that Time Warner Cable is sold.
