Thanks to a major upgrade to its on demand platform, RCN now has the capacity to offer five times more VOD programs than it could a year ago.

Another benefit of the upgrade included RCN being able to add 40 new networks including Fox, NBC, A&E and Disney Jr. RCN said more content choices were coming in the future, as well as more “innovative service offerings” next year.

“The expansion of our on demand platform delivers more quality content to our customers – all on their schedule, meaning customers can watch more of what they want when they want,” said Chris Fenger, Chief Operating Officer at RCN. “RCN's expanded On Demand library is part of our commitment to create a superior customer experience, all at a great value.”

RCN's primary service areas include Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Lehigh Valley, Pa., New York City, Boston and Chicago. It competes against Comcast and Time Warner Cable in some of those areas.
