Comcast announced that former Goldman Sachs executive Jason Armstrong has joined the company as senior vice president, investor relations.

Armstrong took over the position that was vacated by Marlene Dooner, who was recently appointed to the newly created role of executive vice president, Hispanic enterprises and content for NBCUniversal. Armstrong is slated to start his new job next month and will report to vice chairman and CFO Michael Angelakis.

"Jason is a leading financial analyst and brings extensive knowledge of media, technology, cable and many other related industries to Comcast," said Angelakis. "I'm delighted he will be joining us to lead a strong team that is responsible for communicating our strategy, growth opportunities, and business initiatives to our shareholders and the investor community."

Armstrong spent 13 years at Goldman Sachs where he most recently served as managing director, deputy business unit leader of the firm's technology, media and telecommunications research group.

He was also lead analyst for the North American communications services equity research group with principal coverage of the cable, satellite, telecommunication services, wireless towers, and data centers industries.

Prior to Goldman Sachs, Armstrong worked at Ernst & Young in Chicago.
