Blue Ridge hooks up with Comporium for home management service
Blue Ridge Communications has joined the Comporium Security, Monitoring and Automation (SMA) Dealer Program to deliver a home management service to its subscribers.
Comporium’s service combines a security alarm system, communications gateway and home automation platform into one device. Comporium has a reseller agreement in place with iControl, and has a client list that includes NewWave Communications, Midcontinent Communications and Mediacom.
iControl has become the cable industry’s go-to security systems company, with a customer roster that includes Comcast, Cox Communications, Time Warner Cable, Rogers Cable, Bright House Networks, Bell Aliant, and Swisscom.
Comcast and Rogers are among iControl’s investors, along with Cisco, Intel Capital, Charles River Ventures, the Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers iFund, and Tyco International, the parent company of ADT Security Services, which also resells iControl systems.
Blue Ridge Communications, the nation’s 19th largest cable operator, serves more than 170,000 residences in the northeastern and southeastern Pennsylvania.
“Our customers will have a total home management solution that gives them remote control access to lighting, appliances, thermostats and enhanced video monitoring through their smartphones, PCs and tablets,” said Mark Masenheimer, vice president of operations at Pencor Services, Inc, parent company of Blue Ridge Communications. “Our experience and resources in home security services are compatible for the award-winning iControl Networks platform and Comporium’s proven program.”
