Arris ties in to leading recommendation engines

Arris Group said it has integrated its Merchandiser content marketing solution with content recommendation platforms from ThinkAnalytics, Digitalsmiths, and other vendors.

By integrating with most major recommendation systems, Arris is simply expanding its potential market for its Merchandiser solution, which was launched in Europe, and is slated for North America in 2014. Almost every service provider looking for the systems needed to market its catalog of content can shop with Arris.

More than a quarter of those people who use multi-screen services download TV programs to their mobile devices every day, according to Arris’ own research.

Given that, Arris said it set out to integrate its Merchandiser solution with the top recommendation platforms employed by the world's leading service providers.

The result is a leading merchandising solution that lets service providers enhance their On-Demand storefronts to offer personalized recommendations alongside targeted pricing, ads, upgrades and discounts, with support for multiple digital rights management (DRM) systems and multiple screens, the company said. In addition, Merchandiser drives impulse purchases and increases average revenue per user (ARPU) through targeted offer incentives on a per-subscriber basis.

"Consumers crave more content, but finding what you want, when you want among the sheer amount of available options can be an overwhelming," said Neerav Shah, vice president and general manager, multiscreen infrastructure, Arris. "Our Merchandiser multiscreen solution streamlines user preferences, marketing and promotion processes, and aggregates all linear, video-on-demand (VOD), over-the-top (OTT) and non-video assets including games. Service providers benefit from a new way to monetize multiscreen."

ThinkAnalytics offers personalized recommendations that are based on a comprehensive data and text mining platform.

Digitalsmiths’ video discovery platform, offers personalized search, recommendations, social discovery, “mood” discovery, sports discovery and a business console for all connected devices.
