Comcast Business is expanding availability of its high-speed broadband to underserved commercial areas in nearly 100 cities throughout Washington state.

Comcast Business’s expansion includes building to businesses that have specifically requested Comcast’s services as well as to expand fiber optic lines to areas to encourage future growth.

Immediate plans include builds in commercial areas of Bellevue, Kitsap County and Renton (all near Seattle) to offer high-speed broadband and fiber-based Ethernet services for local businesses of all sizes. Additional expansions will follow throughout 2014.

“The Puget Sound region is widely known as a technology hub. However, there are many commercial areas that suffer from lack of 'last mile' access to high-speed Internet,” said Matt Fassnacht, vice president of Comcast Business for Washington. “This expansion will enable companies from all corners of the state to grow and expand, and attract economic investment.”

“We welcome this timely investment in Kitsap’s communication infrastructure – the backbone of our growing knowledge based economy - it’s like adding HOV lanes to Kitsap’s already solid information highway,” said John Powers, executive director of the Kitsap Economic Development Alliance. We know businesses need access to high-speed broadband in order to grow and prosper. This investment will help ensure we continue to have the critical infrastructure upgrades to attract new jobs and even more economic opportunities in Kitsap.”
