Verizon will provide live streaming coverage of the U.S. Open Tennis Championships to FiOS customers.
The company in May contracted with Synacor to provide an online video portal. Verizon asked Synacor to create an embedded video player on the portal, and to work with the Tennis Channel to get the streaming coverage of the U.S. Open.
The portal gives FiOS TV subscribers access to live linear and on-demand programming and includes a simple search and discovery experience, authentication and the ability to log in just once.
Earlier this year, Synacor worked with Turner Broadcasting System to bring 2013 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament games to customers. Additionally, in, 2012, Synacor successfully provided authentication for NBCUniversal’s TV Everywhere Summer Olympics on behalf of nearly 40 customers, spanning all 50 states and reaching 25 million subscribers
