ThinkAnalytics strengthens U.S. team with Pohl, Pingitore

Multiplatform video search and recommendation vendor ThinkAnalytics, which is headquartered in London, continued to broaden its reach into the Untied States with the hiring of cable veteran Michael Pohl as its strategic director for marketing and business development. Pohl was also named as a member of ThinkAnalytic’s board.

ThinkAnalytics also hired Nancy Pingitore, formerly of the Tennis Channel, as its vice president of sales in the U.S. The company said that additional appointments have also been made in the North American-based development and support teams.

Pohl will focus on marketing and business development activities in The Americas and provide strategic direction for the company’s expansion into new markets. Pingitore will oversee key customer accounts and partnerships throughout the U.S. working closely with Michele McGarry, vice president of marketing and business development, North America.

“Our large-scale deployments have proven that delivering better TV recommendations has a profound impact on business results,” said ThinkAnalytics chairman Eddie Young. “Michael and Nancy have both had tremendous success in opening sales channels for new technologies in this industry. With their help we will continue to hasten the deployment of Intelligent Navigation and personalized recommendations that drive home the business objectives of our operator customers and provide value for their subscribers.”

Pohl is a 30-year veteran of the cable industry. He currently sits as chairman of the board for BlackArrow, as well as director of Ascent Capital Group Inc. He was previously non-executive chairman of the board for BigBand Networks and was  member of the Canoe Ventures advisory board. Pohl also served as president of the global strategies group at C-Cor. After C-Cor was bought by Arris, he served as the interim vice president/general manager of the on demand systems Division at Arris. Before C-Cor, Pohl was president and CEO of nCube, which was a pioneer in on demand and advertising technology. He also held executive positions at SkyConnect and Douglas Communications. Pohl is a recipient of the Vanguard Award, a member of the Cable TV Pioneers and is actively involved with CableLabs, CTAM and NCTA. 

Pingitore brings 25 years of experience with companies serving the cable and telecommunications industry. Previously, she was vice president of distribution for the Tennis Channel where she helped expand the network’s carriage from launch to distribution across top MSOs, telco and satellite providers.

Before the Tennis Channel, she was co-founder and vice president of Incanta, an advanced media personalization platform for cable operators and broadband providers. She also served as director of international business development at Arris, where she helped build and manage sales channels in South America.

ThinkAnalytics’ customer wins include deployments on Liberty Global’s Horizon platform and on Cox Communications’ Trio guide. Earlier this year, ThinkAnalytics was the first recommendation vendor to sign up for Comcast’s Reference Design Kit (RDK) software license.
