GCI has begun offering whole-home service, using DVRs from TiVo. The operator plans to offer TiVo across its entire subscriber base over the coming months

The two announced late last year that they would be working together.

GCI will provide its customers with the TiVo Premiere Q 4-tuner gateway DVR and TiVo Mini low-cost IP set-tops, with plans to offer the 6-tuner Pace XG1 gateway later this year.

The service combines linear cable television with integrated on demand and broadband content through TiVo's user interface.

Paul Landes, GCI’s senior vice president of consumer services said, "Launching the GCI TV powered by TiVo experience is an important milestone for our company. Our valued customers will be able to immerse themselves in the best television viewing experience available. We commend TiVo for understanding what it takes to marry a third-party device with a complex cable system to meet our unique infrastructure needs in six short months. We are eager for our customers to enjoy the ultimate TV viewing experience."

Suddenlink and Mediacom are two other prominent cable operators working extensively with TiVo to provide expanded television services.
