Motorola wins Emmy for ad insertion
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is giving Motorola Mobility an Emmy Award for helping to pioneer digital ad insertion.
The Academy is honoring Motorola’s use of its CherryPicker video processor for digital program insertion (DPI), specifically for serving localized ads across digital programming.
Motorola counts this Emmy as its ninth. Arris, which announced its purchase of Motorola two weeks ago, is counting this Emmy as its fifth.
The CherryPicker was introduced by Terayon 14 years ago. Motorola purchased Terayon in 2007. The product uses statistical multiplexing to deliver the best possible video quality using the least possible bandwidth.
“This 64th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy is a great honor that complements our distinguished history of innovation,” said Joe Cozzolino, senior vice president and general manager of Motorola Mobility’s Network Infrastructure Solutions.
More than 20,000 CherryPickers have been delivered to more than 100 customers across the globe, including the top 10 video providers in the United States, Motorola said.
