Lynn MurpheyLynn Murphey was recently named as Cox Communications’ executive field director for its Middle Georgia market.

In the newly created position, Murphey, who has worked for Cox for 16 years, will oversee day-to-day operations for Cox and work with local and regional Cox leaders to help identify process improvements and implement solutions. She will also serve as a liaison for employees, customers, community leaders and the communities Cox serves in the greater Macon/Warner Robins areas.

“I’m thrilled with the opportunity to expand my role with Cox and assume additional operational responsibilities,” Murphey said. “I’m proud to work for a company that has a national footprint but remains intensely focused on serving the local communities where our employees live, play and work. That spirit of giving back to the community I call home is what excites me about coming to work each day.”

Prior to her new role, Murphey served as the vice president of public affairs for Cox’s Florida/Georgia region. In this position, she built a team that was responsible for the region’s government and community affairs efforts, media relations, and internal communications.

Murphey helped introduce several of Middle Georgia’s best practices to the region. This included a volunteer program that allowed Cox employees to take time off to volunteer and provided grants to local charities where employees serve. She has also served as Cox’s local lead for the expanded pilot program for Connect2Compete in Middle Georgia, a broadband adoption program that’s helping low-income families get connected to the Internet.

In 2010, Cox folded Middle Georgia into its Florida division as part of an operational realignment. Last year, Cox cut its systems from nine to seven, which included combining its Louisiana and Florida/Georgia properties.
