AT&T’s LTE available in 103 markets
AT&T today offered an update on its LTE rollout, which now covers more than 150 million people across the United States. The coverage is more than double AT&T's LTE coverage at the end of 2011, with still more expansion planned through the end of the year.
AT&T said it plans to expand LTE to 250 million people by year-end 2013 and to 300 million by year-end 2014.
AT&T's LTE service is currently available in 103 markets today, but it’s well behind rival Verizon Wireless, which back in October announced that it was two months ahead of schedule in its rollout.
In August, Verizon announced that it had covered more than 75 percent of the population of the United States with LTE, and by October, it was offering service in 417 markets.
Verizon is aiming to cover all of its 3G footprint by the end of next year.
