Vonage reaches VoIP subscriber milestone

Vonage, a start-up that leverages high-speed cable and DSL lines to offer IP telephony services, said it recently signed on its 10,000th customer. The company, which started offering services 10 months ago, said it completes more than 100,000 calls per day, and that more than 7 million calls have traversed its network thus far.

IPG leader Gemstar-TV Guide announced that it will restate a few key financials as a result of an ongoing review of the company's accounting policies. Tivo president to step down

Tivo president Morgan Guenther will resign from the digital video recording leader at the end of this month, the company said late Tuesday afternoon. Motorola overall sales rise, but drop at broadband unit

Motorola Inc. said forth quarter sales rose 3 percent to $7.5 billion while net earnings hit $174 million, or 8 cents per share, compared to a net loss of $1.2 billion (55 cents per share) in the year-ago period. Motorola's Broadband Communications Sector (BCS), meanwhile, saw sales drop to $489 million, and orders decrease 33 percent to $353 million.

EchoStar Communications Corp. is in talks to sell to News Corp. chief Rupert Murdoch or Dr. John Malone's Liberty Media Corp., the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday. The paper reported that EchoStar Chairman Charlie Ergen has been in discussions with both parties, but that those talks have not reached a stage of formal negotiations.
