ADT Corp. has hired Arthur Orduña, former CTO of Canoe Ventures, who will assume the role of chief innovation officer, a new position.

Former Canoe Ventures executives are gradually finding new gigs following the contraction of Canoe’s mission and layoffs instituted earlier this year. Last week, former Canoe Ventures chief marketing officer Vicki Lins signed on as EVP and CMO with Clear Channel Outdoor Americas.

At ADT, Orduña will be responsible for technology vision and strategy across the entire company. He has been given the task of creating a strategic roadmap for the full lifecycle of new and existing solutions, helping to define future solution and product architecture and functionality, and strengthening ADT’s relationships with key technology companies to position the company as a partner of choice.

ADT has long worked with several MSOs, packaging its security systems as a supplementary service to the video/voice/broadband bundle. The trend has been to more tightly integrate security and home monitoring/control specifically as services fully integrated with broadband, as Comcast (Xfinity Home), AT&T and Verizon, among many others, are doing – without ADT.

“ADT continues to redefine what the security and home automation solutions of the future look like,” ADT's CEO Naren Gursahaney said. “Arthur brings a fresh perspective and deep technology and product management expertise to ADT’s bench of senior talent. He will play an integral role in spearheading the long-term vision for our portfolio and creating a culture of innovation at ADT."

Orduña most recently has been consulting with PayPal (part of eBay). Prior to that, he was at Canoe Ventures. He has also served as senior vice president of policy and product at Bright House Networks, where he was responsible for all new video, broadband, voice and wireless product development and deployment. He has previously held senior roles at Vivendi-Universal and Integrated Systems.
