RGB Networks will be at The Independent Show, which is being hosted by the National Cable Telecommunications Cooperative (NCTC) in Orlando July 20-25, highlighting how its digital and IP-based video products can be tailored for use by small- and medium-size operators.

RGB's TransAct PackagerRGB aims to meet the multi-screen TV Everywhere delivery needs of NCTC members with its Video Multiprocessing Gateway (VMG) and TransAct Packager.

The high-capacity, carrier-class VMG transcoder is capable of simultaneously transcoding more than 500 MPEG-2 and H.264 streams into optimal video codec output for any access network, RGB said, as well as instantly adapting bit rate and resolution levels for delivery to any mobile device. With built-in redundancy and intuitive element management, the VMG is simple to operate and lowers total cost of operation for a wide variety of video processing functions, including HD-to-SD downcoversion and re-coding, the company added.

Complementing the VMG is the TransAct Packager, RGB’s adaptive streaming solution. This platform “packages” programs into Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), Microsoft Smooth Streaming, Adobe HTTP Dynamic Streaming (HDS) and the newly ratified MPEG Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (MPEG-DASH) – the four major adaptive streaming protocols necessary to support the exploding number of tablets, smartphones, PCs and other mobile devices, as well as set-top boxes.

RGB’s MPEG-2 product line includes the Broadcast Network Processor (BNP), with HD compression for bandwidth reclamation and program lineup expansion, digital ad insertion, grooming and operator alerts; the Modular Media Converter (MMC) for high-density ASI-to-GigE conversion; and the Simulcast Edge Processor (SEP) for edge decoding and analog modulation to implement digital simulcast architectures.
