SCTE to host digital home symposium before Cable-Tec Expo
The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers announced this morning that it would host a digital home symposium in Orlando, Fla., the day before its SCTE Cable-Tec Expo gets underway.
The pre-conference symposium, which is called “The digital home: Preparing for the future,” will take place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando beginning at 10 a.m. on Oct. 16.
The symposium will address a wide range of end-to-end topics, including: next-generation home architectures; home networking; Wi-Fi; media gateways; customer-owned equipment; home security and home automation; and customer service and service assurance, including installation, testing and troubleshooting.
“The growth of multi-platform content consumption and the emergence of new products have increased the need for greater education around home services and how to support them,” said Daniel Howard, senior vice president of engineering and CTO of the SCTE. “The immersive, one-day learning environment of our digital home symposium will expedite the industry’s ability to meet consumers’ needs, increase its competitive position and generate new revenues.”
Registration for symposium is $250 for SCTE members and $350 for nonmembers through Oct. 3, and then $375 and $475, respectively, thereafter. Discounts are available for registrants who also purchase full conference or floor passes to SCTE Cable-Tec Expo. More information on the symposium is available online.
SCTE Cable-Tec Expo will begin with pre-conference sessions on Oct. 16 and then continue with the full conference Oct. 17-19 at the Orange County Convention Center.
