The companies — 360atlantic inc. in Canada, 360atlantic inc. and 360atlantic sales inc. in the United states, and threesixty atlantic inc. in Barbados — filed for protection under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act in the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
CommScope seeks to revise Furukawa joint venture

The two had planned two joint ventures connected with Furukawa's and Corning Inc.'s $2.75 billion acquisition of Lucent Technologies' Optical Fiber Solutions unit. But CommScope's third quarter results compelled new talks.

Real-Time Unit revenue was $10.6 million, compared with $10.9 million a year ago. Revenue overall for the quarter was $14.1 million — down from $16.3 million a year ago.
Cox sees positive Q3, issues guidance for 2001

The company's digital cable-ready homes passed rose from 6.4 million Sept. 30, 2000, to 8.6 million at the end of its second quarter of 2001. That rose slightly to 9 million in third quarter.
EarthLink launches on TWC NE Ohio; weighs in on Q3

EarthLink Inc. launched over Time Warner Cable's system in Northeast Ohio, covering about 386,000 homes in Cleveland, Akron, Canton and surrounding areas. The launch is the company's 11th on a TWC system since Sept. 17, when EarthLink debuted on TWC's 559,000-home system in Columbus, Ohio.

Industry weighs in on quarterly results
October 18, 2001 8:00 pm | by Anne Kerven | CommentsBroadcom Corp. reported a net loss of 1.6 billion, or $6.36 a share, on net revenue of $213.6 million in its third quarter. The company's net loss was $14.1 million, or 6 cents a share, on net revenue of $319.2 million a year ago. The losses don't include one-time restructuring charges of $16 million and other costs of streamlining operations, it says.
