Xfinity Home SecurityComcast’s rollout of Xfinity Home has made it to the San Francisco Bay Area.

The company said it will initially be available to customers in the East Bay and North Bay, and that service will later be extended to San Francisco, South Bay, West Bay and Monterey/Salinas.

The MSO introduced the service in Houston. It recently launched Xfinity Home in its Philadelphia-area Freedom Region, and then extended it to the Denver area.

Xfinity Home starts with traditional home security components, such as police and fire alarm protection, and adds to those services the ability to remotely adjust digital thermostats, turn lights on or off, and watch secure live-streaming video from wireless cameras while away from home. Customers can control the service through the Xfinity Home app, free from Apple’s iTunes App Store.

Xfinity Home offers consumers the ability to create personalized settings that can do things like provide real-time email or text alerts when doors open or close, or when motion detectors report activity occurring inside or outside of the home. In addition, the service comes with a tablet-like touchscreen with a menu of widgets that allow access to the latest weather, news, traffic and sports scores, the company said.

Fees for the Xfinity Home Preferred Package start at $39.95 per month. Xfinity Home customers will also be eligible to receive up to a 20 percent discount on their homeowners’ insurance, Comcast said.
