Work has been completed on four New Hampshire mountaintops to construct a wireless microwave network designed to help public safety agencies communicate better with each other.

NHSafeNet is one of four broadband projects being implemented under Network New Hampshire Now, a collaboration being led by the University of New Hampshire to develop a high-speed broadband network throughout the state.

The microwave network project combines existing networks maintained by New Hampshire Public Television and the state departments of safety, transportation and resources, and economic development. Officials say consolidating those networks will save taxpayers money and free up tower space for commercial providers of mobile and wireless broadband.

Green Mountain Communications recently completed its work on Mount Kearsarge, Moose Mountain, Tenney Mountain and Hyland Hill.
